Foreigner Can’t Slow Down Mixing and Mastering
I was honored to serve as the mixing and mastering engineer for Foreigner’s Can’t Slow Down. The album marked the band’s first studio release of new material in more than a decade.
Creating a Modern Foreigner Sound
I worked alongside producer Marti Frederiksen to create a modern rock production. Our goal was to preserve Foreigner’s signature sound while improving clarity, punch, dynamics, and overall impact.
Professional mixing and mastering helped the album translate consistently across streaming services, digital platforms, radio, CD, and modern playback systems.
Commercial Success
Can’t Slow Down achieved strong commercial success. The album debuted at #29 on the Billboard 200. In addition, the singles “When It Comes to Love” and “In Pieces” both reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.
Furthermore, the album has generated millions of streams worldwide. It continues to connect with longtime fans while attracting new listeners.
Classic Foreigner Songs Reimagined
The expanded editions featured 10 newly remixed Foreigner classics. These included fan favorites such as “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” and “Urgent.”
Fans responded positively to the new mixes. Many praised the improved clarity, depth, and modern low-end detail. At the same time, the remixes preserved the character of the original recordings.
Lasting Impact
The album earned Gold certification from the Independent Music Companies Association for more than 100,000 sales across Europe.
Projects like Can’t Slow Down demonstrate the value of professional mixing and mastering. Great production helps legendary recordings reach modern audiences while preserving the integrity of the original performances.
