Foreigner Can’t Slow Down mixing and mastering was an honor to be part of as I served as the mixing and mastering engineer for Foreigner’s Can’t Slow Down, the band’s first studio album of new material in more than a decade. It was exciting to help bring one of rock’s most successful bands back with a fresh production while preserving the sound fans have enjoyed for decades.
Creating a Modern Foreigner Sound
I worked alongside producer Marti Frederiksen to create a modern rock production that respected Foreigner’s musical legacy. Our goal was to preserve the band’s signature sound while improving clarity, punch, dynamics, and overall impact.
The Foreigner Can’t Slow Down mixing and mastering process focused on creating a consistent listening experience across every format. Each mix and master was optimized for streaming services, digital platforms, radio, CD, vinyl, and modern playback systems. Can’t Slow Down achieved strong commercial success. The album debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard 200. The singles “When It Comes to Love” and “In Pieces” both reached the Top 20 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart.
The album has also generated millions of streams worldwide. It continues to attract new listeners while remaining a favorite among longtime Foreigner fans.
Classic Foreigner Songs Reimagined
The expanded editions featured ten newly remixed Foreigner classics, including “Hot Blooded,” “Feels Like the First Time,” and “Urgent.” Fans praised the updated mixes for their improved clarity, depth, and low-end detail. At the same time, the remixes preserved the character and energy of the original recordings.
Lasting Impact
The album earned Gold certification from the Independent Music Companies Association after exceeding 100,000 sales across Europe. The Foreigner Can’t Slow Down mixing and mastering project remains one of the highlights of my career.
