As the recording, mixing, and mastering engineer for Jason Newsted’s debut solo single “Soldierhead,” I had the opportunity to help launch one of the most anticipated heavy metal releases of 2012.

Released as the lead single from the Metal EP, the song marked Jason Newsted’s return to aggressive thrash metal. As a result, fans quickly embraced the release and welcomed his return to heavy music.

Recorded at Creation Lab Studio, “Soldierhead” combined powerful guitar riffs, driving bass lines, and classic metal influences. At the same time, the production incorporated modern recording and mixing techniques.

I focused on capturing the raw energy of the performance while maintaining clarity and impact. Additionally, I worked to ensure the track translated effectively across streaming platforms, digital downloads, and video releases.

The song earned recognition on the UK Rock & Metal Singles Chart. Furthermore, it helped drive the success of the Metal EP, which reached #1 on the iTunes Heavy Metal Charts and debuted at #62 on the Billboard 200.

Today, “Soldierhead” continues to attract listeners around the world. With millions of streams and views, it remains one of the most recognized releases from Jason Newsted’s post-Metallica career.

One of the most exciting projects of my career as a professional mixing engineer was working on music associated with Miley Cyrus and the Hannah Montana franchise, including mixing the song “Mixed Up” from the Hannah Montana 3 era.

As the mixing engineer, my role involved balancing vocals, refining the pop production elements, enhancing clarity, and ensuring the song translated consistently across radio broadcasts, television, streaming platforms, and digital music services. The goal was to maintain the signature Hannah Montana sound while delivering a polished, commercial-quality mix capable of competing with the biggest pop releases of the time.

Hannah Montana 3 debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and became part of one of the most successful television and music franchises in modern entertainment history. The music associated with the Hannah Montana brand achieved multi-platinum sales, generated hundreds of millions of streams worldwide, and consistently charted across major music markets.

Released in 2011, the song blended Steven Tyler’s signature rock style with modern country influences and became a Billboard Hot 100 charting hit.

The project focused on creating a clear, dynamic, and emotionally engaging mix that highlighted Steven Tyler’s iconic vocal performance while preserving the warmth and authenticity of the recording. Through professional mixing and mastering, the single achieved a polished sound that translated effectively across radio, streaming platforms, digital downloads, and video distribution channels.

The release achieved significant commercial success, debuting and peaking at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100, reaching #24 on the Hot Digital Songs chart, and generating approximately 77,000 first-week downloads.
